SCHOOL OF MASS COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES


This programme is designed to produce journalists in modern society who are expected to operate effectively in the global communications environment in both the electronic and print media. This course is suitable for those already working in the media and wish to enhance their prospects and also for those who intend to pursue a career in this field. Programmes in this department introduce students to the role of the media in modern society and focuses on the skills needed to research and carry out duties effectively as competent professionals. The students are taught professional skills in research, analysis, collection and presentation of news and information. The students learn digital photography, media law, specialized journalism, public relations and other social studies. This department emphasizes that students should look at the bigger picture as far as careers in this field are concerned, thus we train them to be multi-functional and utility journalists who can handle various sections be it in print media, electronic media photojournalism or corporate communications.Journalism is a course for people who love socializing, travelling, and discovering new things. a good command of the language-both written and spoken-and boldness are mandatory.in addition, one must be creative, have stamina and be able and willing to work long and odd hours since the industry is very challenging.

DIPLOMA IN JOURNALISM/MASS COMMUNICATION
